Hoe help je Oeganda in coronatijd het beste?

We weten allemaal hoe belangrijk het is om in deze tijd aan het werk te blijven. Hoe we de lokale ondernemers het beste kunnen steunen: door lokaal in te kopen. Stichting Chica doet dat in Oeganda al jaren voor de projecten, die de stichting daar ondersteunt. En ook nu tijdens coronatijd blijven we dat uiteraard doen. 

De bouw van de 3 lokalen voor de kleuterklassen bij de Jehiel School heeft even stilgelegen i.v.m. de lockdown in Oeganda. Maar inmiddels heeft onze lokale man, ondanks dat de lockdown nog van kracht is, toestemming gekregen om de ingekochte materialen op een verantwoorde manier naar de school te mogen vervoeren. Immers, in de eerste tijd mocht je in Oeganda niet eens je eigen auto gebruiken om naar het ziekenhuis te gaan. 

Bouw kleuterlokalen wordt hervat

Bij de Jehiel School zullen lokale bouwvakkers binnenkort op een corona-veilige manier verder gaan met de bouw van de lokalen. We zijn erg blij dat de toestemming voor het vervoeren van de materialen er is en dat er (onder voorwaarden) gebouwd mag worden. Dit betekent niet alleen dat er straks goede lokalen zijn voor de kleuters, zodra de scholen weer opengaan; het betekent ook de zo belangrijke inkomsten voor diverse Oegandese bouwvakkersgezinnen in deze moeilijke tijd. 

Corona

We hebben als stichting veel nagedacht wat we zouden kunnen doen om de mensen in Oeganda te kunnen helpen en we denken dat dit de beste manier is. En naast de inkoop van bouwmaterialen, zullen we uiteraard ook zorgdragen voor de juiste voorlichting en hulpmiddelen als zeep, water enzovoort, zodat er veilig kan worden gewerkt.

How can you help Uganda the best during the corona period?

We all know how important it is to stay at work. How can we support the local traders? By buying at the local shops en businesses. Like the foundation Chica does for years. For their projects they support and buy at the local traders. Also now during the corona period we will continue to do this.

The building of the 3 new classrooms at the Jehiel School has temporary stopped because of the lock down in Uganda. Our local man has the permission, despite the lock down, to transport the materials, we already had bought, to the building place. That’s exceptional because at first you couldn’t even take your own car to get to the hospital.

The building of the classrooms will resume.

At the Jehiel school, local builders will soon resume building the classrooms, the corona safe way. We are very happy that we got the permission to transport the materials and that we can resume the building. This not only means that, as soon as possible, the little children have their new classrooms but also important is that various Uganda builders families have income during this hard time.

As the foundation Chica we have thought a lot how we can help the people in Uganda and we think this is the best way. Beside the purchase of the building materials we also take care for the right education and implements like soap, water etc. so that they can work safely.
